NMT 11

Our pick this week comes from the lead singer of the band that was in our first New Music Tuesday. You remember the guy who is "so freakin' hot??" and "christ, he's hot. tall, dark hair, bony... mmm". Anyway, he put out a solo record last week or so. I haven't picked it up yet, it's a little different than OLP, which is totally the point, but it just didn't grab me, but this song sort of caught my attention.

The video is animated and I'm sure it's a little weird, but I was mostly focused on the song itself. It's very catchy and hopefully you'll like it. If not, you can ask for a refund. Oddly enough, I think it's based off an old Mormon spiritual.

So, from Weston, Ontario, Canada:

Raine Maida - Sex Love and Honey:

Bonus tracks:

Let's keep it in the family shall we? This is a video someone put together with an OLP song. It has a nice positive message (I think) and I think a couple of you could use that right now. It has the lyrics, so you can follow along (bouncing ball not included).

Our Lady Peace - Not Enough:

Damn you

Borders, thou art evil sumbitches. Don't send me a 40% off coupon, you know I'm going to find something to use it on.

That's like leaving Mormon Girl alone in a room with Chewy Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip cookies and expecting there to be some left when you get back. Ludicrous.

Enablers.

NMT 10

Quickly, before we start: after a first date and she's given you her number. When you're saying goodbye and walking to your car and she says, "talk to you soon", that's a good thing right?

Ok, so this weeks selection actually comes to us from The Date. There is a movie out (comes out on DVD Dec 18), an Irish movie, called Once. It's about an Irish musician who meets a Czech women , they form a duo, write some songs, and fall in love. Am told it is wonderful. The two actors in the film got together after the movie and formed a band called "The Sea Swell".

This weeks pick is from Glen Hansard's other band. Never heard of them before last night, but I looked it up when I got home and I like it.

So, from Dublin, Ireland (yes, there are other bands from there):

The Frames - "Lay Me Down"

Bonus tracks:

For our New Hampsha delegation. I hear it's doing this today "like a sumbitch". Well, we're all thinking of you here as we're in our shorts and t-shirts and near 80 degree weather.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh) (not really about snow, but it's in the title)

Tonite

You guys already knew this, but I talk a lot of shit. I have this date tonite and I have been very cool about it and not nervous at all. However, I think that's mostly been because I made it 5 days in advance and have had many things to keep me busy, KG's visit (more on that later), I've been working on something here at work with an outside consultant that's kept me tied up all day today. Now that all of that is over and it's 2 1/2 hours away with nothing in between. Starting to sink in.

NMT 9

Quick aside: I thought we talked about this glasses with the hair up thing? Seriously. Knock it off.

ok

This week's band is one I fell into (is that one word or two?) sort of backwards. I saw the lead singer on Craig Ferguson's show promoting her solo album and then found her regular band later. The lead singer, Jenny Lewis was a child actor and is in Pleasentville somewhere. She was also in The Wizard with Fred Savage, which I'm sure you all love. I've given some of you one of her songs. I'll leave it to you to find it.

I was going to show something from their current album, Under the Blacklight, but I decided she was much cuter in this one (Yeah, it's the hair, I know, just deal with it). This is about 10 years old when they were 21-23 years old (as well as the rest of us and we still had energy and passed out on the floor at 3AM instead of 3 pm.). Like I said, she's really hot in this video. She's still cute now, but her hair is a lot longer and you know, long hair..goes without saying.

The band is from Los Angeles, which is to say they're from nowhere. The song is from a movie called Desert Blue, which I hadn't heard of until today.

Rilo Kiley - "The Frug"

Bonus Tracks:

Probably my All-Time Favorite R.E.M. song. This is from a show in 1989 (Green tour). You think he's weird now...

R.E.M. - "World Leader Pretend" Live at PinkPop 1989

And randomly: Someone hand Mormon Girl some tissues. I think this girl can do a whole lot better than either of these two drips and by that I mean me, but what do I know. (careful on the sound on this one).

Is nice

So, if you're heading to Disney this winter, this is what the Castle will look like at night. My mom took this picture as you can tell by the time stamp.

If you're going it'll very romantic (unless you're married, in which case you have no need for romance).

OK, everyone take this music quiz. It's challenging. I only got 47 out of 58. I miss Rock-n-Roll Jeopardy.

Most of you probably didn't know already, but one of our viewers has been having a tough year health wise and had to have some emergency surgery couple of weeks ago. Allison is doing fine and is recovering nicely. She'll be out of it for a few more weeks, but is expected to make a full recovery and be back at it soon.

So, in an effort to make her happy and tell her we love her, this week's New Music Tuesday will be for her. I've chosen some things I think (and hope) will make her smile and ease the pain of having nothing to watch but Price is Right and Andy Griffith re-runs (so if the rest of you don't like them, shut the hell up. This ain't about you).

We all love you and hope you feel better soon (don't we? Say it Bitches!).

To help you on your way:

Rush - "Circumstances"

Rush - "Limelight" (always my personal favorite)

and then randomly: (video is a touch off, but you can all deal)
