NMT 41

Will a redneck's truck not start if he has his shirt on?

Ok, I'm telling you this Amazon.com MP3 download is the way to go (If you're not just stealing it- V, Mormon Girl...). DRM free, which means you can play it on anything, not just in iTunes or on an iPod (or if say, you're trying to put together a slide show for someones graduation and it won't let you use iTunes purchased songs. if you don't have some awesome person available to email it to you. As an example). Now they are doing a daily deal, last week since their new album came out, everyday they had one of Coldplay's older albums for $3.99 or so. Today's deal is The Police Synchronicity for $3.99, but if you don't already own that, then you're an ass and need to stop trying to be cool and get with it.

They also offer 5 albums on Friday's for $5 each. Which is where this week's pick comes from.

I'd been eyeballing this album for a while, but just never got it. Then it was offered for $5 and well, what the hell. It seemed an odd pairing when you hear about it, but when you listen it all makes sense. It's very somber since it is covers of old Blues and Hillbilly songs. Obscure ones at that. It was produced by T-Bone Burnett who put together the O, Brother where art thou soundtrack. So, here we are. From Amazon.com. Five bucks. Can't beat it (well, Vicki and Mormon girl could, but can't beat it legally and morally)

From West Bromwich, England and Decatur, Illinois:

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - "Please Read the Letter":

Bonus Tracks:

To honor a legend. One of my favorite bits (Mormon Friendly):

Careful; Two white guys dancing. Someone might lose an eye. Lead song from my favorite R.E.M. album:

I Miss The 90's:

You're sitting around your duplex out in the middle of nowhere, no cable, jamming with your band. You think, dude let's try that Pumpkins song. Sounds easy, it's not. Well, it probably is easy, just not to you cause you kind of suck still and could either practice more or just piss and moan about how bad you suck. We usually chose the latter. This is from their first record, Gish, which is the one the cool kids always referred to as the better album when their major label debut came out and they got on the radio (It's not. They're two different albums).

Smashing Pumpkins - "Siva"

Stellar tunes today. I love the Robert Plant & Alison Kraus duet. Really, really good stuff.

Oh Eddie Vedder & Mikey Stipe - pretty rockin' too. Neither can dance and it cracks me up.

Good job - I think this might be my favorite NMT eva!

I LOVE THAT %#$@!$# SONG!!!! Begin he Begin rocks and it is a damn fun song to play... of course, I was all of 15 when I used to play that song (and quite poorly, I have to admit)... but a brilliant all time REM song! Kudos for digging that one up! Whooooo!!
