I bought the new Alanis last week (had a gift card) and it's not bad. Little different than her last one, dance-ier, little darker, but I guess losing a fiancee will do that.
(Oh and Ryan Reynolds: You go from Alanis to Scarlett. Now you're just showing off.)
Our pick this week is from the album, what she described as "the absolute rock bottom moment on the album". Apparently, she had some stuff to deal with. It's an achingly beautiful piano ballad about having to start over as a single when you've been in a serious relationship ( I guess being engaged counts as serious, if not completely unnecessary).
Alanis has the ability to be open and unafraid to show her emotions in her work. I admire that. I wish I could be that open and honest about feelings, I mean I do ok, but I'm also not sharing it with 5 million people.
Think about it; imagine the most personal and emotional thing that's ever happened to you and then imagine discussing it with that many strangers. It's hard enough to do it with people who love you.
Anyway, this is what I've picked for this week. This performance is the very first time she performed it live, which is cool. I mean, here you are about to sing a song reflecting your emotions about a situation in your life everything thinks they know about because they read about it in a magazine plus you have to hope it doesn't suck, cause these are the first people to hear it and if it does, you'll know.

The other day Vicki mentioned that she enjoyed the BBQ Chicken pizza from Pizza Slut. I said, "Funny story about BBQ pizza from Pizza Hut...." Which of course led me directly to this. I loved this song and it didn't hurt that it was on the soundtrack to one of the bestest movies ever with one of the hottest ladies ever.

So I saw this picture the other day of Ryan Reynolds with no shirt on and all I could say was, "holy cow - check out the abs on that guy". I couldn't believe that was Ryan b/c I don't believe in the "Alanis days" he had abs like that. He was smoking hot in this picture - he is a cutie.
Alanis, great tune. Saw her in my recent US Weekly and apparently this breakup has really taken it's toll on her body. She's gained quite a bit of weight.
I know how it is Alanis. I'm here for ya.
