NMT 105
Our pick this week is a celebration of our parents and thereby; our childhood (well, maybe just Amanda and I). Every household had (and probably still has) a copy of this record (and oddly, Air Supply's greatest hits. I found a copy of that in every house we went to for a period. Creepy.). That's probably not hyperbole since until Thriller came out 5 years later, this was the biggest selling album of all time. My dad loved this band and this is one of the albums we always listened to. We had it on every conceivable format: Album, tape, 8-track and now Cd and mp3. It holds up and I still love listening to it. This song, especially, for some reason just sounds like home.
I think this record is so good because it built by such raw, painful emotion. It was made at a time when the two couples in the band were getting divorced and all the songs are painful, sometimes hurtful ("Shacking up/Shacking up's all you want to do")and about the person standing right next to you singing harmony. All that mixed together makes for a powerful piece of work.
So, from Los Angeles, CA:
Fleetwood Mac - "Dreams":
Bonus Tracks:
Filmed in the 18 months that these guys were the biggest band in the world. And don't any of you [ladies] over the age of 30 act like you didn't have some improper thoughts about him at a time when you had no idea what you'd do with it if you had it. And danced a slow dance to their ballad at the 8th grade dance.
I Miss the 90's:
Had the goatee, didn't have the shorts.

is there something you want to tell us, richard?
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OK actually, great tunes this week
INXS - man I loved those guys.
Soundgarden - how could you go wrong?
Who doesn't love a little Fleetwood Mac??
Yay, liked the choices this week. PS - That record would not have been found in my house. My parents were "oldies" fans so we didn't have any good stuff like that, I had to go to my Uncle's house, he was the music buff of the fam.
Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams": My favorite song by them.
[ladies]
nice touch, monday morning quarterback.
