NMT 103

Apparently, EA, Kenny Chesney and Tim Tebow are BFF's. Not really sure what common bond they have, except maybe their tendency to fall for the wrong kind of man...(see, that wasn't necessary).

Our pick this week is a performer who was marketed through the country world, but is much to good a performer for that crap. She did an amazing version of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" on her first record, but unlike today's country stars, she's grown as an artist (Kenny: you like to get drunk and Pass/hang out on the beach. We got it. Move along. Plus, Jimmy Buffet is still alive, so we're good).

Her new record came out last week and it's really good. She has a Patty Griffin thing going on, which is good because I really like her too. She'd probably settle quite nicely into the Amanda/Vagina rock genre, which is ok. The album is streaming on her website: mindysmith.net

this song has a message I think we all tend to forget sometimes. Let's try not to.

(And yes, she's brunette-deal)

So, from Long Island, NY:

Mindy Smith - "Highs and Lows":

Bonus Tracks:

this came out today and was the Daily Deal. Interesting idea, probably going to take some time to get into. (not an actual video, by the way, just something someone put together. you get the idea though).

Beautiful and Haunting. Way too young to know what they are singing, but hopefully one of them picked up the album and it changed their life a little bit for the better.
