Whatever. Fuck Miami.
Our pick this week is a celebration of a favorite band that had a lull, with some good, but not great records and then came back with a vengeance with their last record, which was amazing. Also, it fits in with the fact that today starts the one month countdown for our trip to Seattle.
Yes, we're headed for a four night stay in October. Were going to do all the tourist stuff; Space needle, Harbour tour, Music experience thing, all that crap. We have tickets for a Seahawks game on Sunday, which will be fun. Oh, and Friday night Nick Hornby will be doing a reading and signing at the public library, which is two blocks from our hotel. That'll be friggin' sweet.
So, anyways, this is the first official single from their new album which is coming out end of this month, I believe, could be wrong. We had a performance of another new song on here a few weeks ago. Let's get excited.
So, from Seattle, WA:
Pearl Jam - "The Fixer":
Bonus Tracks:
This is new today. I have her first record (and it is just one girl, performing under a band name - think Nine Inch Nails or Matchbox 20-not really that second one, I just hate that guy) and I liked it. This is on sale today and I think I shall get it;or perhaps I shall not. We'll see if lazy wins out. (she is a mighty foe).
A Fine Frenzy - "Blow Away":
This fits in with the Seattle theme. More locals boys made good. If you've seen the movie "Singles", Matt Dillion's band, Citizen Dick's big song was based on this, except theirs was called "Touch me, I'm Dick". Fun either way.
Mudhoney - "Touch me, I'm sick":

a. yum.
b. after the rs article, i do think better of rob thomas. might even give his music a second listen; there's something to bubblegum lyrics sung in a sexy voice.
c. i need to watch that movie again.
let's pretend it's still september 8. it marks the two-year "anniversary" of sorts when you and started talking again after 12 years or so silence. am glad we did, i certainly think better of you now than i did then. so, cheers. as before, i wish you only the best in life and love.
you're going to seattle that weekend? sweet. i'm going to orlando the same weekend to visit lex & kid. must be the right weekend to travel! or, conversely, we're all going to go down in balls of flames and that weekend will become known as black october. either way, we'll all have a great time.
a) actually, not bad
b) I think this is a super cute song and I really dig her voice.
Hannah - you're so right about Rob. He sang "America the Beautiful" for opening night of the US Open in NY and I thought he did a really fantastic job. There's just something about his voice that I really like. I used to think he was hot but the not washing of the hair and his crazy eyes have changed by opinion on his "cuteness" but love the voice
Seattle is so fun, I still haven't done all the touristy stuff. You're definitely going to have 4 jam packed, fun days. It took me a week to get adjusted back to this time zone. I hate that crap.
kg: i've always been a fan of the great unwashed. something about seediness that does it for me.
...ugh
Wow, how awesome that you will be in Seattle the very same weekend Nick Hornby is there? What are the chances! ;)
