NMT 86
OK, slackers, this weekend, Saturday May 9th Enter the Haggis is playing here in town. So if you're in the area (and chances are you won't be. Shithole.) you should come out. Good time band and Amanda thinks the lead singer is cute. I think it's just how how handles his fiddle. So, come and watch Amanda party hard and stay up past 9pm. Wicked Pissah!
Our pick this week is new and an ACL act. If only we all had a connection near the Austin City Limits Festival. Alas. Maybe we'll all catch the big Manchvegas City Limits festival.
This is on sale for $3.99 on Amazon and I was going to pass and then I listened to this song and decided to buy it. Just now, so I haven't heard it all, but I still have $42 left on my credit there, so it's cool (thank you Discover Card).
I do like this song. It's a bit heavier than his previous efforts, but that's his thing with this new band. I do remember the fun of working at the store (54evah bitch!) and his first record would be playing and the song "Mama's got a girlfriend now" would come on. Good times.
Oh and he's married to Laura Dern and close friends with Jack Johnson and Eddie Vedder, but then again, aren't we all.
From Clermont, California:
Ben Harper and the Relentless7 - "Shimmer and Shine":
Bonus Tracks:
Was looking for something else, but we'll save that for later. This is part of a series I guess on Bruce Springsteen's Youtube channel called "Hanging out on E Street". It's various covers by newer artists. I picked this one because I always thought this song was a little weak, but hearing it stripped down I realize it's pretty good. Just suffers from 80's pop production perhaps. Plus, I've always had an indie crush on her.
Juliana Hatfield - "Cover me":
I Miss the 90's:
Actually, added this to my iPod the other day. Totally forgot about it, which is a shame. I think this song might work a little at the original, slower tempo, but this works too. This song even made the Stone Heart tear up when she saw them live. I know, shocking right.
Toad the Wet Sprocket - "Crowing":
