NMT 68

Not worrying about anything for two weeks is kind of nice.

I trust everyone had a safe and happy holiday. We opened gifts at both places with the A/C on like everyone else. Ok, maybe not everyone else, but most of you.

OUr pick this week is representivtive of the fact that we all try to be wonderful to all those around us, but it's hard and we're human. Doesn't mean we don't care, but we are trying. It may seem like a negative message, and I"m sure it is (this guy could sing Happy Birthday and make it sound sad), but we all tend to get down on ourselves and it reflects back to our loved ones. I'm just a guilty as anyone, but it's funny when I do it (cause seriously, we've met, I have no ass.).

In the New Year, let's all try to do that less. I love you all.

So, from Berkley, CA:

Counting Crows - "You Can't Count on Me":

Bonus Tracks:

Somehow, and she assures me she owned a radio, Top 40 had never heard this song until we heard the end of it on XM the other day. Inconcivable. She did think I was funny while singing along to it in perfect pitch. Its fun.

I Miss the 90's:

Ah, the 90's; when anything could be a hit.

oh, i love adam duritz. if only he'd marry me, commit to wearing a bag over his head 24/7 (cos, damn), and just sing....

that song still sucks. (sorry, i'm just not a fan.)

omg. i've heard that on the radio a thousand times since i lost my free trial of xm (and am too cheap to just subscribe already no matter how much i loved having it for three months) and have realized that um, i kind of like that song. now. i didn't then, i thought it sucked ass but i worked in a record store and we had standards so there you go... now i'm free to admit to liking what i like with impunity.

happy new year to you and yours. enjoy your air conditioning. we'll have nice cool air all our own as we're expecting a high of 19 tomorrow (but clear skies, like that's supposed to soften the blow. bastards.)

seriously. happy new year to everyone, this past one was so fantastic that it's hard to imagine a better one but i'm nothing if not eternally optimistic. no really, i am. all right, you got me, i'm a pessimistic little shit, but i do it with style.

Happy New Year to all! I love you all (even the ones I still haven't met face-to-face yet but your friends of Richards so damnnit, you just simply must be cool).

I am one of those "sometimes I like them" and "sometimes I don't" fans of Counting Crows. You're right, everything he sings sounds sad.

I think I missed your message but I think you just want us all to know we're awesome and for that, you rock.

I have always LOVED that Crash Test Dummies song, seriously I can't believe Top 40 never heard it before. Really? As sad a song as it is, I loved it.

Spin Doctors....one hit wonders but I will admit, I bought that CD through the subscription that reaked havoc on my checking account..BMG. Remember that crap? No matter how many times I cancelled they would still send me crap and charge a ridiculous amount for their CDs.

Anyway, Hannah - I sure have been thinking about you and the bitter cold. Stay warm. I was going to ask you to send a touch of cold air this way as it's been hot and humid here but alas, Old Man Winter came a knocking today with 45 mph winds and with wind chill, supposed to be in single digits tonight so...I'm good.

Hope 2009 brings you all happiness, health, good times and good luck. Muah!

PS - I'm also selfishly going to wish for a man in '09 (for you too, MG) cause doggone it, I'm tired of waiting around or looking for him to come to me.
