NMT 49

Oh, it's that time of year again. Yes, It's Little Red Haired Girl's birthday. I know, I know, it seems like we just did this one year ago and in many ways, we did. So heap praise upon her and tell her you love her. More on this later.

Our pick this week is something I found while researching a local band. I saw a poster advertising a show at CDU on campus with Look Mexico and I wanted to see what they were about. Look Mexico has an album and a couple of EP's on iTunes and in the review it mention that they were heavily influenced by this band. Of course with the shortest distance between two points being a straight line in the opposite direction I went and checked them out and I kind of liked this song, so here we are.

The band's name is taken from an inside joke within the band about the show BJ and the Bear. I'll leave you to your own devices to figure it out. And if Mormon Girls gets it's first, I'll be very disappointed in the rest of you.

So, from Seattle, Wa (total coincidence I swear):

Minus the Bear - "Knights":

LRHG's Birthday:

Happy Birthday

Not paying you to talk boy. Just look pretty and sing:

This is just some really REALLY good advice. Only the first 2.15 min is applicable.

R.E.M. - "Redhead Walking":

I Miss the 90's:

I know these guys have been on here like 1000 times, but I was listening to this record the other day and I think this songs is overlooked in their catalog. Oh, and one of us saw this band this past weekend, though not on purpose. They were going to see the other band playing, which I won't even get into.

Live - "Waterboy":

hb, lrhg. i don't know how young you are today but i can only hope that you don't have to go up a box when checking your age group. (you know, ages 18-24, ages 25-36, & etc. i had to go up a box on a form today and i almost cried.)

i don't know what i think about them. the first 8 seconds of the video made me remember the time when i had vertigo.

i don't know what i think about the boy in the ballcap except: 'damn, i want one of dem shirts.'

i discovered a new radio station today. it's called boston's independent (formerly the river out of newmahket, nh) and supposedly the station is one of new england's only solar powered stations. anyway, i'm heading back from (somewhere, that i never should have been... and the thunder rolls... ahem, sorry, thought? meet tangent. anyway....) i'm heading back from my smoke break (i have to go for a drive to do so because i think i'm the only smoker within a 10 mile radius of this building) and an obscure r.e.m. song comes on the radio. (it needs to be said here that where i live: r.e.m. never comes on the radio. just not that kinda place. at least, not until i found this radio station. cool, eh?

namaste, ed k. i adore you so.

YAY! First off, I'm totally still in that middle box. Thank the lord. I crossed into the second half of that box, but we won't talk about that right now.

Second - I even like the REM song!!! It may only be because of the title, but who cares?

Third - Yes. Less talk, more looking pretty and singing. That should be the rule in SO many places.

First things, first. Happy burfday (as they say here in A-town). Hope it was a great day!

Minus the bear = minus the goodness - didn't like this group so much.

Jason Mraz - seriously, nuff talkin' get to singin', cutie

REM - good tune

Now, did I say I didn't go to see Live? No, I didn't think so. I was thrilled to see them AND Collective Soul. Live did not sing this song but man they were fantastic. Ed Kowalczyk has no hair and a ripped body that my boy Patrick was flipping out over. Ed rocked the night, actually out of the 3 bands that played (Blues Traveler, Live & Collective Soul) I think Live got the most playing time. CS got ripped since they were the "headliner". They literally pulled the plug mid-song as it was past the "neighborhood noise curfew". Sucked but the show still rocked. I forgot how great Live was until Sunday.

kg: yuck foo. live in concert, my a-double-s. and on a bill with blues traveler, you say? my, that had to be an experience quelle horrible. the only thing that makes me feel better about living in backwater new hampshire (which i don't, but for the sake of this rant, do) is that i think we're getting to go see the backyardigans in concert later this year! (i actually like the backyardigans. austin is my favorite: he's the quiet, secretive one. the type of person i appear to have an affinity for. plus he's purple and with a tail, so...) and also, project rungay is on tonight...

(fyi: this poster now censoring herself for mormon girl's comfort.)

for those of you without kids (basically everyone but amanda), the backyardigans is a kids show on nickelodeon jr./noggin that both my kids like. well, the girl loves them, the boy secretly does but openly proclaims it to be a baby show in case any of his friends find out that he is forced to watch it.
