NMT 44

Our pick this week is older, but I was thinking about it and I wanted to share. He was the singer and guitar player in the 80's indie band, Husker Du (he had a great quote about the name. When he was being interviewed for his first solo album. He said, "It's Swedish for 'do you remember', which is all it means now". Just thought that was cool).

Anyway, I always enjoyed his first solo record, "Workbook" (I couldn't find anything from that record, other than "See a little light", but since it's been used in a recent commercial, I couldn't bring myself to use it. Great song though) great guitar work and melodic songs, little softer than the Husker Du songs. The song I chose comes from his second album, "Black Sheets of Rain" which is a little harder than "Workbook", but that just means he uses a distortion pedal.

Point being; pop music isn't limited to silly boys in matching outfits.

So, from Minneapolis, MN (no, not him):

Bob Mould - "It's too late":

Bonus Tracks:

This came out today. Sounded interesting.

The Hold Steady - "Sequestered in Memphis":

I Miss The 90's:

It started out as a way for friends to come together and grieve for their lost friend. It started as two songs and grew into an album, a tribute for a fallen friend. The album was recorded while Mother Love Bone was searching for a replacement for Andy Wood. They found Eddie Vedder and changed their name to Pearl Jam. Hence, he's on this record. It amazes me how many people you wouldn't think would like this song actually do. Mormon Girl even likes it. Possibly even KG, if she's not being a music snob that day. Oh, interesting fun fact: When Vedder is singing, this is the exact lineup of Pearl Jam now. Dig on that.

Temple of the Dog - "Hunger Strike":

Music snob, eh? Ouch, that hurt. To prove I'm not that snob, all I'll say is GREAT tunes this week. Bob Mould is good (does that rhyme?). See, I'm easy to please in the music category. Hell I listen to Ween, come on. (I'm pointing my finger at you right now). ;)
