NMT #6 - Boston edition
Our pick this week isn't actually from Boston, but they do mention it in the song. I think they're from California by way of Illinois, but I don't know.
Anyway, this is another request from Amanda and then Little Red Haired Girl wet herself at the mention of it, so I think it'll go well. I don't know too much about any of it, but it's a good song and I'm headed to Boston in three days.
Amanda and LRHG, prepare to squee:
Augustana - Boston
Bonus Tracks - In honor of the trip, some bands actually from Boston (you won't be hearing any of the band Boston for they suck BIG ole monkey balls).
I pretty much had an early 90's indie crush on this girl. This was and still is one of my favorite records. This is for all of you with older sisters. (also note this video is taken from 120 Minutes. The greatest show MTV ever had.)
Juliana Hatfield - My Sister.
If you like Nirvana in any form, you are pretty much contractually obligated to like this band. Cobain said once he would quit Nirvana and join them if asked.
Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven
And for our final going to see The Hip moment (yes, Kg, it's almost over). If I've given you a cd in the last five years, you have this song. Not live, but a great song.
The Tragically Hip - It's a good life if you don't weaken

1. i'll squee, this is a great song. feeds my love of all songs with a piano. so glad amanda and lrhg stalked you over it.
2. if there's one thing i truly, truly miss about the 90s and being younger, it's the music. thanks for that. i adore my sister too.
3. always fairly ambivalent about the pixies; i think it's another instance of where i'm just not cool enough to get some things. pixies and frank black are some of those things.
4. i really like that song. am sure they're a fun band to see live. do let us know, won't you?
1. YAY!!
2. I can't help it if older sisters are just plain better.
3. What Hannah said.
4. I really like this one!
Have fun in Boston!!!
1. YEAH!!!! Oh God I love that song. I know, I am so generic. Whatever! Thanks Richard!
2. I totally forgot about her. Man I liked her. GOD I MISS THOSE DAYS!! I wish I could do 94 - 99 over again.
3. Not a Pixies fan. Sorry.
4. NOt bad. Looks like it will be a great show. Enjoy Boston RIchard. I am jelouse, but I will be having a good time with Ben and Mary Rose at "A Day Out With Thomas". I'm actually looking forward to this "kids" trip. =)
So I know I give you a lot of @!#% about your NMT selections but..... very good selections this week. Really, I mean it. I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 (even #4).
There's a great radio DJ up here that used to do a show at lunchtime called "The House of Retro-Pleasure" and he'd basically play any and all great music from the 80's through the 90's. The Pixies were always played and I think they R-O-C-K. He's a big fan of the Ramones so they were constantly played too, & I like them a lot.
I'm really jealous of your trip. I hope the weather cooperates and you eat some mighty yummy seafood on my behalf. Oh yea and I hope your show rocks!
PS - If you see my ex-Josh, please tell him his peach misses him. Have fun pawkin' ya caw.
