NMT 87
Our pick this week is a band I didn't like at one time. In my younger angry(ier) days, I kind of passed them off. As I have gotten older I have realized I was all wrong. This is one of the best bands to come along and they've influenced just about every band that's come since. I think my initial rejection or whatever came from my friend Nathan playing their Combat Rock album over and over whenever we would go somewhere and then only the big hit. Got old quickly.
In recent years I've come around. Plus, it seemed unnatural for me to not like the band whose shirt appears in almost every John Cusak movie.
Also, for you readers (Top 40-KG), there's is a great biography about the lead singer called Redemption Song: The Ballad of Joe Strummer, that I highly recommend.
So, from London, England:
The Clash - "London Calling":
Bonus Tracks:
If you weren't there, you missed a great show. Enter the Haggis was great and we all down the House specialty beer "We're out of that". We were right on the stage 2 feet from the bagpipe player and directly in front of the smelliest man alive. I mean, the kid of funk that just smacks you in the face. James Brown called from the grave and said, "Damn, that's funky". The band was fun anyways and we learned that the guitar player is "super cute" (Top 40) and that the bass player is cute, but was cuter when his "Whi-fro" was bigger (Amanda).
Enter the Haggis - The litter and the leaves":
I Miss the 90's:
I had to get dumped and move back to Orlando from Tallahassee to get this record back from Amanda. But, not before she and I watched her implode on the VMA's.
