NMT 75

Our pick this week comes from not far from here (Go east till you smell it, south till you step in it). I was working at the store when this album came out and it grabbed me right away. A record that pulled you in at first listen and made you realize this was a good band, not just a collection of members. Sort of like R.E.M. in that apart, probably not the greatest players, but put together, they were the right combination. They may have been like REM sonically as well: jangly guitar and lyrics that didn't always makes sense (Eskimo Sandune?). They were on Sony which meant we got 6000 promo copies at the store (it paid to like a band on Sony; those guys were whores when it came to giving out free shit). I listened to it solidly for months. It's a record I still listen to.

A month after their record came out and this song had started to pick up some airplay when on the way back from playing an industry event, their van was involved in an accident killing the singer and bass player. So, sadly, we won't know "what could've been", but we have this and that's good.

This song was written as a response to the way they were feeling the day Kurt Cobain died. Hence the title.

So, from Gainesville, FL:

For Squirrels - "The Might K.C.":

Bonus Tracks:

This came out today and I bought it. Have to say, so far, it's really good. Oh and here is the picture from the inside cover of the first single. Since I had to see it...so do you. You're welcome. (Probably not Mormon Friendly)

I hear they have the opposite problem in Atlanta:

r.i.p. to all.

i'm so happy to see that really? he's aged well. and did the band members make a pact to wear shirts that were advertisements or is that an inside joke one has to read details magazine to be privy to? either way, it's a good song and for an old guy, he looks good naked. (as good as a man over the age of 25 can look naked, anyway.)

good week. thank you for sharing.

For Squirrels...I remember this song but never knew what happened to them. So tragic.

Morrissey - I've always been a fan, cute cover photo.

Um...yea total opposite problem here in Atlanta.

Too funny! Good week.
