NMT 34

Hey everybody! It's KG's birthday! Happy birthday to you, our favorite girl in Atlanta. (also to Soapy who turned six yesterday.) And don't worry, it only gets better. Our bonus tracks today are for you.

Ok, little aside before we start. Dierks Bentley released a greatest hits today and it reminded me of how much fun country music can be. it really is just pop music in boots. this guy (and I'm not putting him down, I'm sure he's fun to dance to in a bar or whatever) has put out three records in 5 years and now he has a greatest hits. Those 3 records have a total of 35 songs on them, the Greatest hits, compiled from those 3 records: 18 songs. Ok, 16, since I think 2 are new songs. Either way, that's a lot. That's almost half of his catalog.

So basically, they're indirectly acknowledging the fact that it's almost a waste to buy 95% of country albums. They're 3-5 good songs surrounded by filler. There are exceptions, but for the most part. Think about it. Take out some of your country albums that have been out for a while and count up the number of songs you really like that weren't on the radio. Bet it's not very many, or in Dierks case: Half. So, save some money and buy the Greatest hits when it comes out. Which will be like every 4 albums. (Look how many Faith's husband has.)

Ok, enough of that, it's KG's birthday! Let's get to it!

Our pick this week is a band that I just found with their new record that came out last week, but apparently their first record was the TV soundtrack king of 2006. This song was featured in like 10 shows that year, which is ok because that's what you have to do to get your songs heard anymore.

This song appeared in an episode of Grey's during Season 2 (for those of you who still watch that show). It was used in the second part of that one with Cristina Ricchi. I don't know, that show sucks. I'm sorry, I'll catch hell when I get home, but can't be helped.

It's a good song, no matter how many, terrible, overrated shows it' s been used on.

From Cambridge (anything past I-95 is the faching sticks), MA:

The Weepies - "World spins madly on":

Bonus tracks (30 is the new 29 Edition):

South Gwinnett in the house! (Gwinnett arena to be exact):

(And seriously, male and females who want to do a duet: learn a new song.)

Well thank you very much. I don't feel a day over 26. Seriously, what is it with 26? Since I turned 26, I've been stuck there. Every time someone asks me how old I am, it's always 26 and then I'm like, um, actually, no. I'm 2_ (or 30 as of today). It's so weird.

On to the tune. The Weepies actually have a good tune there but ridiculously cheesey video. Of all the things you could choose for some random picks, you did pick some random ones.

The clip of Keith & Carrie was actually from April 24th when I was there and honestly, I could care less about Carrie. Keith is an awesome guitar player, singer, hottie. Seriously, I think he could sing row, row, row your boat and I would still melt. As far as the duet, it was a good one but Carrie has zippo in the "stage presence" category.

Gavin Degraw? Of all the places and bands that come to the ATL you choose him? And a terrible song at that. I do like him, just that song doesn't do him any justice. I thought for sure, since you're going with the Gwinnett theme, you would have tried to find a clip from some band called REM that played at the arena.

Anyway, I sound grumpy. I'm really not. It's been a great day so far and I have incredbily sweet, loveable friends. I'm super thankful.

As an aside, I share a birthday with George Clooney. Things could be worse.

OK...So 10:32 A.M. SERIOUSLY?
Weepies- kind of catchy, but yes- very cheesey.Video reminds me of a project a student did once.

duet- KG, I don't know you, but A-MEN sister on the Kieth comments. I would think that all that AI training would've helped Carrie on stage. Still like her though.

Still getting over the 10:32 am? :)
Again , don't know ya KG- but Happy Birthday! Actually, enjoy your Birthday WEEK!! :)
